Empowering our community through education, spiritual wellness, and the arts.

A strong legacy starts at home.

The Chaney Legacy Foundation (CLF) was established to honor the Chaney family by influencing and encouraging its descendants to serve mankind through the love of Christ. The Chaney Family has been blessed with a rich heritage inclusive of Christian values, strong leadership and exceptional artistic skill.  The Chaney’s desire is to maintain the legacy and memory of family trailblazers and other family members to impact future generations.

Supporting Education

Research has established and continues to reveal significant disparities in education with high correlation to race, ethnicity, and income across the United States. Kansas is no exception. Data reveal the gaps in academic performance are not only persistent but have been increasing in the state of Kansas since 2011 (KSDE 2013).

Given African American students are one of the populations disproportionately impacted, the Chaney Legacy Foundation (CLF) seeks to provide academic support and enrichment to increase educational attainment among African American students.

Health & Spiritual Wellness

The black church has and will always serve as a safe haven for African Americans, a place to worship God together, and a place where we are motivated to rebuild our communities. In Kansas, the number of blacks who have severe health conditions lead all other races in every category, yet they make up only 5.6% of the total population, according to Kansas Health Matters.  It is a priority of the Chaney Legacy Foundation to serve the Greater Wichita Community by providing programming, partnership and support in eradicating this epidemic.

The Arts

African Americans have made substantial contributions to arts and entertainment. Dancing, singing, acting, poetry, drawing, and painting have innately remained in black culture. When there is a lack of positive artistic presence, it is a threat to the vitality of arts in the community. It is the goal of the Chaney Legacy Foundation to cultivate and support artistic gifts for future generations in the community.

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is:
What are you doing for others?”

— Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
